Moms Aren't Supposed to ...Part II

Jon and I have pondered whether or not I have sleep apnea for a few years. One night last week I really gave Jon a scare. He kept having to wake me up so I would start breathing again. So, he told me to set up an appointment with our family doctor and I did. I REALLY don't like going to the doctor. I usually just deal with whatever is bothering me and/or try home or OTC remedies.

Thursday evening at our Life Group meeting we asked our group to pray for the appointment to go well. It did.

My mom took the children with her to visit relatives who were in from GA on Friday. That way, Jon could go to the appointment with me.

So, here are the results of that appointment:

1. I'm on antibiotics for ten days for my sinus infection.

2. I'm now taking allergy medicine (nose spray).

3. I have an appointment in August for a consultation with a Dr. for a sleep study.

The allergy medicine makes my headaches worse. I couldn't even sleep Friday night, because my headache was so bad. If the headaches don't start improving I'll have to call the Dr. I already have a terrible time with several different types of headache and I don't need another type. The information with the medicine actually says to call my doctor if I get a headache from it, but since it's the weekend I can't. My symptoms have gotten worse since I started taking the medicine, but apparently that's normal for the first few days.

Hopefully, I'll be on the mend soon.

Have a great day everyone!

Im convinced my husband has sleep apnea. I have to nudge him to get him to breathe a lot. But he refuses to see a doctor about it! sigh

Mrs. Darling,

Apparently, sleep apnea can take a toll on one's heart. Maybe you can convince him that you want him around a lot longer?

I'd take part in your garden tour, but we can't find our camera right now. We obviously didn't get it back in it's proper place. Of course my my little garden spots are not really that photogenic. I have potatoes and cantaloupe growing in an old wading pool, tomatoes growing in a brick bed (the old alligator pit), pumpkins growing in my compost pile, sunflowers growing around the compost pile, cantaloupe growing in a large clay pot, and petunias in a front bed.

Saying Brandi doesn't like going to the doctor is a little like saying I would not like to experience a fall from a twenty story building. I will do everything in my power to assure that I won't fall, just like she won't go to a Dr. The fact she went at all is huge, and the fact that the Dr. actually listened to her and acted on what she told him was equally as stunning.
Thanks for checking up on her from time to time.

I spent a while as a Respiratory Therapy Outcomes and Compliance coordinator. Sleep apnea is N.O.T.H.I.N.G. TO MESS WITH! It can KILL YOU. OR WORSE! And yes, there are worse things than death. Believe me, I've seen them!

Brandi, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to the doctor appt and listen to what he has to say. If you have apnea you will have to sleep with a CPAP. It is hard to get use to, but usually after you've had a couple of good nights of restful sleep you will continue to wear the mask because you feel SOOOO much better. Best potential benefit: Your headaches may go away. I had lots of reports of that happening.

Praying for a good outcome for you because you are going to be a compliant patient. ;o) xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo
