Camping '08

It was a good thing we got to the campgrounds while the office was still open Sunday (6/29) afternoon. There was a couple on one of our sites (there is a limit of six people per site) who had paid for an extra night. Apparently, someone had told the couple they could have the extra night. Since the office was open we were able to work out a compromise.

This is before the rain while I was fixing breakfast Monday morning.

I finished cooking our breakfast in the rain with Jon holding an umbrella over me.

We ate breakfast in one of our tents Monday morning. I wasn’t going to post these terrible pictures of me soaked, but I read this post of Damama T’s. I decided to be a good sport.

The rain was so hard that we ended up having to move the tents for them to be dry.

Some time after the rain Monkey spotted this frog (in the white circle) on the driveway of one of our sites. I put the hair band on the ground to get a size comparison.

I love camping - looks like you had fun, even in the rain! :)

Someone was being very observant - look at that little-bitty frog!!

We did have fun.

Later in the week, Monkey said she saw the frog again and had almost stepped on it.

I'm so proud of you for keeping those pictures!!

I am embarrased to say that I have only been camping once in my life - at Girl Scout camp when I was 10. Never again, thank you very much. I like my creature comforts waaaaay too much! LOL! It does look like you guys had a great time, though. Goodness gracious! The kids are getting so big!

Give 'em all - and Jon, too -- a big hug for me.

xoxoxo

Damama,

We figure we'll be camping on most vacations in the future. It's entirely too expensive for hotel accommodations for eight. We figure we'll be able to see/do a lot more that way.

I'll pass out the hugs.

Take care!

Neat picture of the frog; I wouldn't have realized it was so small without the headband, LoL.

It sounds like you all had a good time. You're right about the too expensive hotels. Some hotels now consider my family of 5 too big for one hotel room, in spite of my daughter's young age. I can't imagine what they would think of a family of eight!:)
